Discovering Alpha Inventions
I was surfing yesterday when I stumbled on Alpha Inventions. I read the article written by Cheru Jackson, the creator of the site, and I thought it makes sense.
I also watched the AVP posted on youtube about Alpha Inventions and I was doubly convinced, the site is simply brilliant, a breakthrough even in the blogging universe.
With Alpha Inventions, real time updates on blogs is achieved. More power to the most-friendly bloggers site on the internet. More power to Cheru Jackson, indeed he has come up with an innovation worth commendation from bloggers all over the world. Cheers!

The Breakthrough That Is Alpha Inventions
What Is Alpha Inventions?
Published September 22, 2008 Resources 791 CommentsTags: alpha inventions, alphainventions, blog, blogging, reading
Hello Curious People,
First off my name is Cheru Jackson, and I’m just a regular working guy with an apartment and an old car with a big imagination. I don’t think like anyone in this world, because if I did I would not have been able to create alphainventions.com I just ate a McChicken, and I’m a little sleepy.
The blogs and links appearing on my site are just the most recently updated blogs from people like yourself.
At first I was frustrated to have to go through with getting an account with Word Press just to explain how my site his more helpful than harmful, but I’m now glad I have an account, and this might stimulate you to check out the site more often. I’m a friggin blogger now yay!
Ever thought of this?
If you were to comment on a blog right after the webmaster published (updated) it, you would get a faster response, because most likely the webmaster is still online, and shocked to see that someone has commented so quickly. This is either very simple, or I’m an advanced human.
It’s just an experiment to help webmasters (bloggers) connect in real-time. It looks simple, but it took me 3 months of coding to build this thing. I’m bored, in my 20s, and this thing is cool.
The more exposure to the site means more traffic to your blog you from alphainventions.com when you update it.
That’s how the site is made to work.
The huge truck got stuck under the bridge, and many men tried to get it out for hours and failed until the creator of alphainventions.com told them let the air out of the tires to set it free.
If you are concerned that it’s a scam, then contact the government, or whatever it takes, because they are going to tell you how cool it is when they get done with the investigation. I may even link to this post.
I’m great at coding the site, but at the moment not so great at explaining it’s benefits and features. I tried to make it as simple as possible to understand, and I didn’t even put that many buttons, links, or fun junk on the site. but I know people have a craving for more understanding.
I might as well make this post my about page lol :). Real laughter out loud not the text message kind.
Here is how it works. (simple as possible I hope).. Ready?
Let’s go…
If you update or publish your blog at the same time my visitors are browsing blogs in my site then my visitors will get a chance to see your blog in real-time. BAM! (the entire blog is in their face instantly) It’s not even annoying to watch. Is it alpha addicts??
I also provide a link to your blog in case they want it to open your blog in a new window, or bookmark your blog . The links provides your title, and description to help my visitors get a better understanding on what your blog is about, and get more interested. Alphainventions.com is useful for wordpress.com , typepad.com, spaces.live.com, and blogger.com I love it, and want to grow it like a tree. Yahh!
To get more traffic from alphainventions.com just keep your blog updated or go to the homepage, and notify readers about your blog. It’s so simple.
More..
A realistic goal of mine for alphainventions.com is to provide a way for us to see only blogs that we are interested in update in real time, because this will provide more quality, and blogger interaction.
Interaction part is why I built the site. It’s fun to see people come to your site and find it interesting as soon as you update or publish, so I want to provide a faster ways of doing this.
Earlier in the project I tried to make a fair, and logical way for people to submit their link every so often to get more readers for a short period of time, but so many people didn’t understand how the site worked so I guess they may have overlooked it. I’m thinking they didn’t know why they should submit their link.
Help please…
Everyone wants their blog to be read instantly, and I want to provide everyone with that experience.
If anyone here can provide an example of a full explanation on how the site works in better terms it will be greatly appreciated.
Good job to those who do understand how alphainventions.com works. If I looked at it from outside of my webmaster box I’d probably be a little confused about what alphainventions was at first sight.
Many people have their blogs set to ping services like weblogs.com when their blog has been published or updated. Email me, and I’ll create a script to block your blog from being read if you’d like.
If someone is on Alpha Inventions when you publish your blog to the public, it will be read by a visitor(s) of mine.
I have no problem helping you with the situation. Contact info is available on the site.
The entire time reading Please keep in mind that mostly bloggers, and webmasters use alphainventions.com , and not the average googler, or reader. This should help you to see how the site is more beneficial to people like you. You are thinking in terms of SEO, and things of that nature, and Alpha Inventions is designed to be more on the Instant communication side of things, but I will make adjustments to improve targeting as mentioned in previous posts.
I do take your feedback seriously.
Alpha Inventions is far from a robot, because it’s controlled by the visitors, and blog publishers. If you don’t publish a blog nobody will see it. If nobody is on alphanventions.com nobody will see the blogs you published or updated. Simple. It was coded this way to avoid being a spam site. Once the site has grown more, I will get more into the coding part with you, so you can better understand how it works.
It’s just not about finding something interesting to read.
The purpose of Alpha Inventions is to connect bloggers with each other in a faster way, so there are no gaps in communication. Targeted communication will improve.
The fact that someone knows that they can contact you, or provide feedback to you almost instantly make your blog more interesting even though they did not search for your content.
Youtube.com , and weblogs.com uses a similar method.
Again for the records the adjustment will be made in the near future to provide more targeted results.
As the site grows I will implement a system that will show readers blogs very similar to blogs they have created themselves. This will be cool.
If you still have your doubts I would like you to keep me informed on small things I can do to make the site better for you while still keeping everyone who benefits from it now happy.
If I can’t help one person with a small problem, how can I help millions?
I’ve recently changed the languages to English only for a few days to see if things improve for English speaking bloggers. Just a test.
I will be working on a way for readers to toggle languages.
Thanks for the positive, and valuable feedback everyone. Good job. Keep it up.
The site does not refresh the page over and over. This would be spam, and I hate spam as much as anyone else. Quality first.
You may have had computer errors, because there is no possible way that your site appeared and disappeared in less than 2 seconds unless someone submitted a blog right after you submitted yours.
or
You may have hit the “play” button too many times, or a user may have hit the “who’s on alphainventions.com now” button too many time while you were on alphainventions.com
I apologize for the inconvenience, but this is not how alpha inventions works. Please continue to work with it, and let me know if you experience this again.
The fact that someone loaded, or clicked (there are links too) your page from alphainventions over 100 times is no fault of mine.
This is the same as someone clicking your site from Google, or Yahoo 100 times. They can’t help it either. I wish I could help. Just because I’m not a popular people tend to pick on me. (a little)
When someone submits their blog, then your blog will be removed automatically. There is no database.
If you don’t want your blog shown, don’t submit it to alphainventions.com, and it will never be show on alphainventions much. This has been mentioned before. Read the threads.
There are many people who get plenty of comments to their blog from visitors, and I’m sorry nobody found your blog interesting enough to comment on it. People do have to be interested in order for you to get comments. This is no fault of mine. If you went to the store looking for beans, and a clerk tried to sell you rice, then you will reject him or her.
I ask you all to get a better understanding on how blogs work before we get emotional. A lack of understanding can ruin things for everyone.
I hate to seem so direct, but I guess it’s needed. If anyone else has stat counter, or analytics please verify that the readers are real readers located from different IP address and different places around the world.
The site is designed to help, and not hurt. If you have any ideas to improve it let me know. Great job providing me with your feedback.
Please let me know if you have any ideas on making the site more interesting, and beneficial. Please post in public, because I’d like everyone to be involved.

John Reese on Internet Marketing
Wake Up Call: Web 2.0 Wouldn’t Exist Without Internet Marketers | |||
| | ||
IMPORTANT UPDATE: I have written a follow-up post to this entire drama and it’s important that you read it. Thank you. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. This post is something I’ve wanted to express for a long time. So grab some popcorn and your beverage of choice. You’re in for a long one. I was recently called out and attacked by Mark Hopkins over at the blog Mashable with his latest post, Is Twitter Vulnerable To Marketer Attack? Mark apparently got his motivation to make such a post after reading blogger Duncan Riley’s recent post (also directed at me and showing a recent email I sent to my list) Pending Sign Of The Twitter Apocalypse: It’s Being Talked About By Internet Marketers. I think it’s about time that someone actually set the record straight and addressed attacks like these against Internet marketers. On the Web, there has always been this massive divide between entrepreneurs using the Net for marketing purposes and those that aren’t. If You’re Going To Call Someone Out And Attack Them At Least Get Your Facts Straight Both Mark and Duncan referred to me as an “ebook salesman.” That’s pretty interesting considering I’ve never sold an ebook since I’ve been marketing online for over 15 years. So come on, guys, you’re supposed to be “journalists” so try doing your research first — especially if you’re going to publish something that more or less is a personal attack and tries to put someone down. But even, though, they have this fact wrong about me their implication with this statement is something I’m going to come back to in a moment because it’s important. Both Mark and Duncan attempt to imply that somehow I was encouraging marketers to abuse or spam Twitter in some way. Here’s a tip: Why don’t you actually READ whatever email you’re trying to use as ‘evidence’ to make your case? You may want to reread that email and pay close attention to this sentence: “Observe how others post and you’ll quickly learn the culture, etiquette, and uses for Twitter.” I clearly state that there’s an ETIQUETTE to be used on Twitter. I am not in anyway encouraging people to abuse Twitter. It’s clearly stated directly in that email. Even if that sentence wasn’t included, the implication is still that I am notorious for teaching people to be abusive with their marketing or something. Well, if you would have actually done your research on me (before attacking me) you’d know that I don’t support or teach any Internet abuse of any kind. If you’re not going to take the time to actually do some research about me the very least you could have done is OBSERVE MY POSTS ON TWITTER.
As anyone can clearly see, what I’m encouraging people to do is actually the OPPOSITE of what Mark and Duncan are trying to imply. But they’d know that if they had done their research. Anyone can see the public history of my Twitter account at: http://twitter.com/johnreese So why on earth did these ‘journalists’ not investigate it? Ironically, Mashable has used their Twitter account for 100 TIMES MORE promotional effort than I have with mine. Hey pot, meet kettle. Last Time I Checked Twitter Used A ‘Voluntary’ Messaging System And completely aside from the points I just made, Twitter works by having users opt to follow other users — and they only see their tweets after they have voluntarily chosen to follow that person. This makes it nearly impossible for someone to abuse the system for evil marketing purposes. Certainly some idiot will probably come up with a way to mass-send ‘direct’ messages to people (and Twitter will squash them) but Twitter’s design does not allow people to just blast anyone. But what do I know. I’m not trying to make a living as an ‘expert’ blogger about Web 2.0 services. Mark also took the ‘attack’ efforts against me quite a bit further than Duncan. Mark makes a statement that I’m a “Web 2.0 flopster.” The word “flopster” implying FAILURE. Back to the lack of research factor… If Mark had done his proper research on me he’d know that I’ve been one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the history of the Internet when it comes to creating online projects that CREATE PROFITS. I was a pioneer of opt-in email marketing when I created one of the first auto-reply email services for businesses in 1994. I am one of the few people in the world that can say they’ve created a web site from scratch and using a tiny marketing budget put that site into the Top 500 most trafficked web sites in the world. And, oh yeah, I’ve done it with THREE different sites and I’m currently working on my 4th. I’ve made millions of dollars in a variety of markets - from golf to hobby markets to B2B. I’ve been one of the top super affiliates in the world for companies like eBay, Chase, and other Fortune 500 companies. I’ve even generated over $1,000,000 in AdSense earnings without paying a penny for advertising or playing the “arbitrage” game — and I did it as a ’side’ project. And as most online marketers know, in 2004 I released a training course and generated $1,000,000 in sales in the first 18 hours from the marketing campaign I put together — which ended up creating $1M in net profit within the first 7 days. And I did it without risking a single penny on traditional advertising. So Does That Make Me A ‘Flopster’? Again, it’s all about the research. HOWEVER… maybe Mark was simply referring to me as a failure in the “Web 2.0″ sense? Referring only to projects that are Web 2.0 services. Fair enough. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. Mark has consistently ‘hated’ on my BlogRush project. He has bashed it in the past and for whatever reason continues to seem all fired up about it. He implies that the service was a dumb idea (without so many words) and that it failed, was overhyped, yadda yadda yadda. Was BlogRush A Total Failure? Even if it was… WHO CARES? I mean, if an entrepreneur comes up with a crazy idea at 4AM and has the guts to ‘go for it’ and it fails, does that make that person a FAILURE? After all, BlogRush is not even the core focus of the company I’m trying to build. But should someone that has a failed project like this just call it quits? If I had taken that attitude about being an entrepreneur I would have been homeless a long time ago. It’s better to have the courage to try something and fail to not try at all. It’s amazing how many people bashed BlogRush yet most of them had never taken a major risk in their entire life. No risk, no reward. At least I had the guts to invest $400,000+ of my own money to give the idea a shot. Yes, my money. Not money some VC gave me. The Internet would not be what it is today without the courage of entrepreneurs trying all kinds of crazy ideas. As far as BlogRush is concerned, I’ll be the first to admit that it did not work out the way I had hoped it would. I hoped it would be a great service that would provide tremendous VALUE to a lot of people. There were many factors that I didn’t expect when I created the service — such as the amount of abuse, that many people would hide the widget so low on their pages it wouldn’t get much click activity, etc. Then there’s also the issue that most bloggers don’t know how to write compelling titles — which has everything to do with the click-rate. BlogRush also encountered some technical issues and other growing pains. Hey, it happens. But even with all of those problems and unforeseen issues, was BlogRush truly a failure? Well, let’s look at some traffic analytics from Compete.com. In this chart let’s compare BlogRush’s traffic with that of Mashable the super popular blog where Mark is one of their writers: Huh? That’s weird. For someone calling me a failure when it comes to my little “Web 2.0″ side project it can’t be that bad of a failure considering it gets more traffic than one of the most popular blogs in the world — that Mark happens to works for. And here’s what’s really amazing… this chart is primarily showing unique visitor numbers based on the BlogRush site and NOT on the reach of the widget itself; because the widget is served on other sites. Here’s A NEWSFLASH For Mark: The BlogRush widget has already been served over 540 MILLION TIMES. I think most other entrepreneurs would LOVE to ‘fail’ that badly. Mark also attacks some of the marketing copy that I used for BlogRush. He says it’s nothing but “hyperbole” and overhype, etc. Hehe. I love the irony in the fact that Mark created his post based on a blog title that contains “Pending Sign Of The Twitter Apocalypse.” Great use of hyperbole, Duncan. I actually think that title rules! Bloggers are notorious for their strong usage of hyperbole. Hey pot, meet kettle. Oh, you guys already met. Well, maybe you should get married. I will be the first to admit that we overpromised and underdelivered (so far) with the promises of the copy for BlogRush. Anyone that knows me as a marketer knows that my entire career has been the OPPOSITE. I thrive on overdelivering value to my customers. And again, I admit that BlogRush didn’t work out like I thought it would - no one is more disappointed about that than I am. Many BlogRush users ARE getting the free traffic benefits that were promoted. But most of these marketers have a solid grasp on writing really click-worthy titles; which makes all the difference. But Mark is very passionate about dogging BlogRush, and that’s his right just like anyone else. So, Mark, I’m sorry that it didn’t live up to your expectations. We’ll gladly issue you a full and prompt refund. Oh wait. Somehow I forgot BlogRush was a totally FREE service. But There’s A Much More ‘Poisonous’ Message About Internet Marketers That Needs To Be Addressed I’m so sick and tired of the anti-marketing attitudes of writers, pundits, and others on the Internet. It’s been going on since the Web started to take off in 1994/1995. So many of these people make it out like all Internet-based marketers are only selling scammy, rip-off garbage. And while the Internet is certainly filled with all kinds of jackasses that spam and abuse every known online service and tool there is, not enough ‘credit’ is given to marketers (like me and most of my customers) that have great marketing and success online and do things the RIGHT way. And not enough credit and attention is given to the fact that if it wasn’t for Internet marketers there would be no Internet or Web 2.0 as it is today. MONETIZATION IS THE LIFEBLOOD OF THE INTERNET. Without all of the affiliate marketers, affiliate merchants, small bloggers, advertising networks, marketers buying PPC traffic, and everything else that is a part of the “Internet Economy” 99% of what’s on the Web today would not exist. So for Mark, and any others that seem to take this anti-marketing attitude, the next time you cash your paycheck you should take a moment to realize it wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the very marketers that create and sustain the economy of the Web. Heck, just take a look at many of the ways that the Mashable blog is able to generate revenue — many of those programs and networks only exist because of marketer activity. So if you kill all the Internet marketers, YOU KILL THE INTERNET. As far as the spammy and abusive marketers go, it’s unfortunate and it pollutes the Web. Thankfully, the Internet has this great darwinism effect where those that don’t provide value end up getting destroyed. Junk and scammy crap will always end up in FAILURE. The ‘problem’ is that so many new junk peddlers take the place of the old ones. One more point I want to make… Mark and Duncan’s efforts to call me an “ebook salesman” is being done in a negative light relating towards selling information to teach people how to make money in some way. This is another common anti-marketing attitude that has existed online for ages. So many people are put off by marketing or promotion for anything to do with “making money.” Even, though, there are hundreds if not thousands of fantastic products on the subject that are truly helping people. To realize this, I only have to take a look at the success stories created by my own teachings and what they’ve done for thousands of individuals and their families. Are there tons of people peddling utter garbage and worthless “I’ll show you how to press a big red button and get rich” crap online? Unfortunately, YES. But to stereotype anyone and everyone that publishes or provides marketing or business advice is PATHETIC. And that is primarily what happens when it comes to the anti-marketing attitude. A Quiet Revolution Is Forming These anti-marketing folks need to realize something… The world is changing quickly. Economies are evolving. More and more people around the globe are realizing the benefits of having their own business online. The ‘marketing’ uses of the Internet are only going to GROW. And it’s actually going to make the Internet even STRONGER and more developed. As the needs to increase monetization are created it will spawn more innovation online. The survival of Ideas, Sites, Services, and Companies on the Web are ALL dependent upon the activity from Internet marketers. I just wish more people would start to realize it. * I would like to encourage my fellow Internet marketers to spread the word about this post. Thank you. |

PEOPLE WANT MORE PERSONAL, EXPERT “HEALTH ENGAGEMENT,” GLOBAL STUDY REVEALS
October 16, 2008, — New York – A 5,000-person, five-country study released today by Edelman shows that people want more active, trusted, and personal health interaction with companies, organizations and brands, effectively rewriting the “rules of engagement” in health. The Edelman Health Engagement Barometer finds that to win a “license to engage,” companies must, above all, help people address their specific personal health concerns and help them maintain their health through prevention and care. They also must provide people with thorough, transparent, and specific information; engage them through personal and health-expert channels, online and off; and address personal issues like health and well-being before larger societal concerns.
The study also found that one-fifth of people comprise a highly influential group—the “Health Info-entials.” Health Info-entials are involved, informed and engaged in health. Health Info-entials have more stakes in health than the general population: they are more likely to work in a health-related field (26 percent vs. 18 percent), suffer from a severe or chronic health condition (41 percent vs. 34 percent), be a caregiver (17 percent vs. 11 percent), and take prescription medications (47 percent vs. 41 percent). Health Info-entials span all ages and walks of life. The Health Info-entials also are, overall, more trusting of companies and organizations involved in health (69 percent vs. 58 percent) and more likely to listen to and take positive actions on behalf of a company or organization in health than the general population (81 percent vs. 63 percent).
“We’re seeing the democratization of communications," said Richard Edelman, President and CEO, Edelman. “The new Health Info-entials have a voice based on their personal experience and willingness to share their points of view with friends and the broader community.”
According to the study, effective health engagement can build trust and, conversely, trust is the key to deeper engagement. “Health engagement and trust fuel each other,” said Nancy Turett, Global President, Health, Edelman. “However, engagement is not fully reciprocal -- the perceived balance of power is not equal—so companies seeking to engage effectively in health must foster trust.”
New Rules of Health Engagement
Health engage me: In the study, people said that they want personal, honest engagement and dialogue on the health issues that affect them personally (54 percent). And the higher the personal stake in the issue, the higher the desire for engagement. The study also found tight alignment among people’s personal health and public health priorities, and the priorities people expect companies involved in health to have (i.e., provide access to affordable healthcare, solve chronic health problems and prevent disease were top three priorities).
Health expertise is prime: The most credible source for health information is “my doctor or healthcare professional” (96 percent). Yet even for the most credible source, the Health Info-entials turn to other sources to validate information they get from their doctors (88 percent).
My health and well-being come first: Above all, the study shows people care most about protecting and maintaining their health: “maintain health and well-being” (74 percent), “solve chronic health problems” (66 percent) and prevent disease (61 percent). People reported that these personal health concerns are more important for health companies to address than other issues such as fostering innovation (41 percent), protecting privacy (40 percent) and addressing environmental impact on health (47 percent). People also defined their health and well-being holistically (e.g., personal appearance, financial health and social connections with others.
Interact everywhere. Health influence happens across all channels. No one channel, or set of channels, is turned to more than others for credible health information. The channel named most frequently for companies and organizations to communicate with people -- “through my doctor or healthcare provider” -- is only 30 percent. For a company or organization in health, this means it is not a matter of whether it should be “in” interactive channels or not, but a mandate to contribute to the conversation before it gets defined by others.
Engage with Health Info-entials. With their high influence and vanguard position, Health Info-entials are leading the conversation about health issues, companies, organizations and brands, and they illuminate the future channels, topics and sources that will wield the most health influence.
“This growing group of individuals is a critical audience for companies and organization involved in health to understand,” said Jane Sarasohn-Kahn, Founder, THINK-Health and an advisor to the Health 2.0 Conference. “The imperative is to communicate with them across multiple channels with health expertise and personally relevant content.”
About the study
The Edelman Health Engagement Barometer surveyed adults age 18-75 in five countries (China, Germany, Russia, UK, and US) and explored the concept of engagement along three dimensions: emerging topics that are most important to health stakeholders; emerging influentials who are participating in conversations and activities related to those topics; and emerging channels through which communications on these topics is most effective. Additional in-depth interviews with nearly 50 traditional health influencers also occurred concurrently. The study was designed by StrategyOne and fielded by Greenfield Online in August through September 2008.
